A 34-year-old Wewoka man was arrested in Fairview on complaints of violating Oklahoma’s Computer Crimes Act after authorities said he was using a motel’s wireless Internet to transmit child pornography.
Members of the Oklahoma Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested Charles Monroe Davis July 7, according to a release from Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. Davis’ arrest was a result of an undercover investigation by a Guthrie Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force member into the sharing of child pornography online.
It was determined child pornography was being shared from an unsecured wireless Internet service at the Fairview Heritage Inn, according to OSBI.
The Guthrie officer contacted the ICAC Task Force members assigned to District 26 District Attorney’s Office and Woods County Sheriff’s Office, according to the release. Investigators were able to track down the room and computer Davis is accused of using to distribute child pornography.
With the assistance of the Woods and Major County Sheriff’s Offices, task force members took Davis into custody and booked him into the Major County Jail.
Davis was arrested on complaints of distributing child pornography over the Internet and violation of the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act. Bond was set at $500,000.
Online court records show Davis was charged July 11 with possession of child pornography and violation of Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act. He is scheduled for a court appearance in Major County District Court July 25.
