ENID —
Enid YWCA’s Children’s Learning Center underwent a two-month project to improve its day care facility and hosted a grand reopening Thursday night.
Parents and children were invited to attend the unveiling of the project, which included all new paint and carpeting, as well as the installation of “nanny cams,” which allow parents to check on their kids from any computer.
“We did it in a short amount of time, and it’s just amazing how hard my staff worked,” YWCA Executive Director Nancy Humphrey said. “I’m so proud of my staff.”
Children’s Learning Center Director Cheila Armour said she, too, was pleased with the project.
“I love it,” Armour said, standing next to a mural painted by Leonardo’s Lisa Magyar. “It feels real homey.”
CLC is the first day care facility in northwest Oklahoma to install the 16 cameras throughout the center so parents can view their children using a program called “Watch Me Grow.” Each parent is given a code to their child’s classroom and can log onto a secure server to view live video of their children.
“We’ve gotten a good response about the cameras from parents,” Armour said. “Parents really want to see their child is safe, especially for new parents who are leaving their child (in day care) for the first time.”
Humphrey said she’s gotten good responses from parents with children who attend the center.
“The parents that were already involved just love it,” she said.
Children’s Learning Center is a Department of Human Services certified 2 Star public day care facility open for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years.
