Nominations for Donovan Reichen-berger Endowed Fundraising Award are being accepted through June 30.
Established this year by Northwestern Foundation, the award recognizes private fundraising efforts of Northwestern Oklahoma State University faculty and staff. Named for Reichenberger and his example of generosity and fundraising service, the award honors an individual who seeks to further the university mission and vision, allowing continued prosperity during a critical time of diminishing state support.
Nominees must be full-time Northwestern employees, demonstrate excellent personal qualities and exemplify Northwestern values. Selection is based on funds raised by the nominee, pledged and realized; average age and income of the alumni base from which the nominee raised the funds; the nominee’s university position and level of responsibility; and the sources of private gifts secured for Northwestern.
The public may submit nominations of Northwestern faculty or staff to Skeeter Bird, Northwestern Foundation CEO, on or before June 30. For information, contact Bird at (580) 327-8599, aebird@ nwosu.edu or Northwestern Foundation Inc., 709 Oklahoma Blvd., Alva, OK 73717.
Born in Mount Hope, Kan., and a graduate of Sharon (Kan.) High School, he married Dorothy Teutschmann in 1958. Following 18 years of naval service, he graduated from Northwestern State College in 1965 with a bachelor of arts degree in social science. Reichenberger earned a master’s degree from Wichita State University before joining the Northwestern history faculty in 1967. He retired from Northwestern in December 1992, after 25 years of service.
Following his wife’s death in 2005, Reichenberger endowed Dorothy Reichenberger Memorial Scholarship and the Dorothy J. Reichenberger Chair in music. He also gives to other Northwestern programs and works with the foundation’s investment committee, serving as chairman since 1994 and as a trustee since 1993.
