School
• The Ag Booster Dinner will be 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the school cafeteria. Menu will include pulled pork, turkey, baked potato, corn, green beans, salad, and dessert. Cost is kindergarten through 6th grade $5, adults, $8 and children pre-K and under are free. The money raised will go to the 4-H and FFA members to help support their livestock projects.
• Parent-teacher conference will be 3:30-7 p.m. Monday and Thursday.
• The Book Fair will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The fair will be open parent-teacher conference days from 5-7 p.m.
• School will be dismissed Friday for Professional Development.
• Stephanie Hanson’s Pre-K classes recently received a sand and water table, donated by local businesses.
Community
• Matt Benham, graduate of Okeene High School, has been accepted into the Doctor of Pharmacy School at Southwesstern Oklahoma State University. Matt is the son of Duffy and Teresa Benham of Okeene.
• A truck recently was donated to the Okeene Volunteer Fire Department. Bradon Swaim donated the use of his paint booth and helped firemen Brandon Schultz and Chris Mullins sand and repaint the truck red.
• The Okeene Brownie Scouts recently took a field trip to Okeene Volunteer Fire Department. The girls are working on earning their first-aid patches and used this field trip to satisfy one of the five requirements.
Training captains Robert High and Jim Luckie taught the girls what to do if their house is on fire. They also explained the different trucks and rescue procedures.
Okeene Troop 3131 has 14 girls and is led by volunteers Carrie Luckie, and Missy Unruh. Mandy Spaeth also helps with the troop and serves as cookie coordinator. Girls attending the field trip were Hailie Ibarra, Heather Boeckman, Jacee Buhr, Kacee Bode, Allison Schieber, Kaylynn Eagleston, Katie Boeckman, Hayley Spaeth, Jaedyn Hutchinson, Arabella Gutierrez, Rebecca Unruh, Lauren Luckie and Destiny Haag.
• Winners of the Knights of Columbus include Beau Jinkens, Morgan Westfahl, Lane Gambill, Holly Boeckman, Craig Westfahl, Hayes Felder, Harley Waldrep and Rhett Gambill. Each of these winners will compete in district competition to held at 2 p.m. Feb 12 in Okarche. Winners of that competetion will move on to the state level contest in Shawnee.
