ENID, Okla. —
Girls from Waller Middle School will showcase their talents and strut their stuff Sunday in the Miss Waller Pageants.
Susan Vineyard, Waller speech and drama teacher, said the ranks of the pageants will be full this year.
“Right now I have 64 girls in it,” Vineyard said. “Yikes! But, it is a fundraiser after all.”
All the girls will be modeling and speaking onstage in long dresses. Three beauty queens will be crowned: Eaglet Sweetheart from sixth grade; Eagle Princess from seventh grade; and Miss Waller 2013 from eighth grade.
“It teaches them femininity skills, and the event is a fun, family time, as some family members also serve as escorts,” Vineyard said.
The three winners will be crowned onstage and receive tiaras and flowers. They will ride in the Cherokee Strip Parade next fall and be featured in the Waller yearbook.
The pageant is a fundraiser for the Waller Wings speech team. Admission is $5. Children 10 and under and students with I.D. are admitted free.
The public can attend. Parking is in the new parking lot at the northwest corner of the school. Entry is through the new theater doors.
