Weekend bringing winter-like temperatures

ENID, Okla. — A weak cold front will be moving into northwest Oklahoma tonight, but the temperatures will be balmy compared to what's expected this weekend.

Highs Friday will reach into the upper-50s across northwest Oklahoma, according to the National Weather Service, after lows in the upper-30s tonight.

Winds will be from the north at 6-10 mph, dropping to 5-8 mph as Friday dawns with the possibility of fog early giving way to partly sunny skies, according to the NWS forecast for Enid and the area. Greater chance of fog is forecast for central and southern Oklahoma.

Friday night's low will bottom out at 35 for Enid, with a high Saturday forecast at 62. Winds will be light from the south before another cold front barrels down overnight Saturday into Sunday, bringing gusty north winds and a slight chance of precipitation to the area, according to NWS.

Sunday calls for a 20 percent chance of rain and even snow in parts of northwest Oklahoma, with a high near 45. Lows will drop to around 20 Sunday night, and Monday will be cold with a high only reaching 40 and a low of 21. Wind chill values will dip into the teens and single digits in northwest Oklahoma during the nighttime hours, according to NWS.

Temperatures will start to rebound as the week progresses.

No real accumulation of precipitation is expected from the fronts, according to NWS.
