A long-standing holiday tradition, the Living Christmas Tree returns to Oakwood Christian Church Dec. 16-17.
A 50-plus voice choir will sing from a 25-foot-tall Christmas tree covered in thousands of Christmas lights.
“The presentation of ‘Repeat the Sounding Joy’ is a compelling musical brimming with originality, energy and a stunning array of musical sounds,” said Alan Gloor, worship minister. “The Living Christmas Tree will thrill you with endearing stage performances, beautiful costumes, creative choreography and heart-warming musical scores.”
Performances are 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Dec. 16 and 7 p.m. Dec. 17. They are free to the public.
“Repeat the Sounding Joy” by David T. Clydesdale and Deborah Craig-Claar, provides a look at the sharing of the Christmas story, moving from modern day through different eras back to Bethlehem.
“New and beloved songs tell the timeless message of Christ’s birth, each arranged in period style,” Gloor said. “A spectacular, one-of-a-kind sequence pays tribute to classic Christmas films, ‘A Christmas Carol’ and ‘It’s a Wonderful Life.’”
The musical culminates with a fully staged nativity and carol sing.
