ENID, Okla. —
Friday is the last day to apply to vote in the Feb. 12 Enid City Commission election, said Garfield County Election Board Secretary Roy Schneider.
Annual school elections also are held Feb. 12, and Cimarron Public Schools is having a bond issue vote.
People who are U.S. citizens, residents of Oklahoma and at least 18 years old may apply to vote. Those who have never registered before, are not currently registered in Garfield County or are not registered at the address where they currently live also must register.
Applications postmarked after midnight Friday will be accepted and processed, but they will not be approved until after the Feb. 12 elections. Schneider said the county election board will respond in writing to every person who submits an application for voter registration. The response letter is either a voter identification card listing the precinct number and polling place, or a letter explaining the reason the application was not approved.
Anyone who submitted a voter registration application and has not received a reply within 30 days should contact the county election board office at 903 Failing. The phone number is 237-6016. Applications are available at the election board office, most post offices, tag agencies and public libraries in the county. They also are available online at www.ok.gov/elections.
Candidates for Enid City Commission are:
• Ward 6 — Joey Meibergen, David Van Hooser and Mickey De La Cruz.
• Ward 4 — Rodney Timm and Loyd Kaufman.
• Ward 3 — Ben Ezzell and Eldon Stephens.
Cimarron Public Schools patrons will decide the outcome of a bond proposal. The question asks for $420,000 for transportation equipment. Cimarron voters also will choose between school board hopefuls Stanley G. Johnson, Robert Kirchner and Joshua Pettus.
Kremlin-Hillsdale voters will decide between candidates Robbie Gray and Kent Keithly.
