ENID, Okla. —
Garfield County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of several spools of industrial copper wire after $16,000 worth was recovered in Enid Thursday.
Undersheriff Jerry Niles said the sheriff’s office was contacted Thursday by Enid Police Department, who responded to a report at about 11:30 a.m. and found the copper spools at a residence in the 400 block of East Maple.
Niles said the department contacted Mortensen Construction Co., which is building wind turbines in the county, and company officials found they were missing the spools of wire.
“Our investigation is ongoing,” Niles said. “It is still under investigation.”
Anyone having information that will lead to the arrest or prosecution of the suspect in this crime, or any other, is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (580) 233-6233.
Callers may remain anonymous and will not be required to testify.

Donations can be made by visiting www.redcross.org or $10 can be donated by texting “REDCROSS” to 90999. The donation will be added to your monthly cell phone bill. Monetary donations are being taken at the Red Cross office, 1023 West Elm, in Enid. A supply drop-off is at 2811 W. Garriott.
