ENID —
An Enid man has been charged with first-degree manslaughter for the death of another man in a weekend drunken-driving accident.
Court records show Vincent Blaine Sixkiller, 24, was charged Thursday with manslaughter and DUI with great bodily injury, also a felony.
The manslaughter charge is punishable by no less than four years imprisonment, and the DUI is punishable by a fine of up to $5,000 and imprisonment for one to five years.
According to an Enid Police Department report, Sixkiller was driving a 2001 Ford Ranger west in the 2900 block of Willow when he failed to stop for traffic stopped for a passing train. Sixkiller struck the back of a 2002 Nissan Altima driven by Michelle Schartz, 27. Schartz and her passenger, Robert Ukena, were taken to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center with critical injuries. Ukena, 32, died of his injuries Tuesday afternoon. Schartz’ condition is improving.
The collision caused Schartz’s vehicle to strike the vehicle in front of her, a 2005 Ford pickup driven by Kyle Gould, 18, of Edmond. Gould then struck the vehicle in front of him, a 2006 Dodge Charger driven by William Melson, 28, of Enid.
Sixkiller was uninjured and appeared intoxicated to the officers investigating at the scene. A blood sample was taken and has been sent to Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation for testing.
Online court records show Sixkiller is scheduled for arraignment on the charges at 9 a.m. this morning.
Funeral arrangements for Ukena are pending with Henniger-Hinson Funeral Home.
Robert Ukena Family Fund has been created to help Ukena’s family. Donations can be may at Enid Rib Crib or any Bank of Kremlin location.
