Fairview home slated to add assisted living

FAIRVIEW — Fairview Fellowship Home is adding assisted living to its continuum of care program starting Monday.

This is part of the ongoing growth of the home as it celebrates 50 years of operation.

The home was dedicated in April 1961, after construction was completed for a 38-room facility, costing $200,000. The home started with five nurses on staff.

Fairview Fellowship Home has grown and now has 100 certified beds and 100 employees.

Ramona Lantz, administrator, said the new assisted living wing will provide skilled nursing care, with a flexible lifestyle, as residents find a need to move out of independent living units and into a more nurtured environment.

Fairview Fellowship Home Village will have a Valentine’s Day open house at 2 p.m. Friday. The program will feature an Elvis theme. Elvis impersonator Ralph Pantalone will appear.

All seniors are invited to attend. There will be root beer and Coke floats for everyone with door prizes and apartment tours.

Fairview FCCLA team members competed in the state LifeSmarts competition Feb. 3 in Stillwater and placed third, according to Donna Robison, adult coach. The team is made up of Dakota Eitzen, Reece Parrish, Kayla Ogden and Chloe Ewbank of Fairview High School.

LifeSmarts is an educational opportunity provided online for students who are encouraged to learn about consumer issues. The program is entering its 16th year.

Teams choose from several categories that matter most to consumers and workers in today’s marketplace. The options include personal finance, health and safety, environment, technology and consumer rights and responsibilities. Each team is made up of four to five members from an organization in the school. This year, state winners will go to the national competition in Miami.
