ENID, Okla. —
A workday is set Saturday to prepare Dillingham Memorial Garden and Government Springs Park for winter.
The event is sponsored by Enid Beautiful Inc. and Friends of Government Springs Park.
Workers will be at the park 9 a.m. to noon, and anyone interested is invited to come out, said City Commissioner Ron Janzen. Dillingham Garden is located on the north side of Government Springs Park, an area once a watering hole for drovers traveling north on the old Chisholm Trail. The garden is dedicated to a longtime Enid-area family.
Janzen, a member of Friends of Government Springs Park, said the group usually cuts down overgrown bushes, removes summer flowers that have died and does general cleanup.
Janzen said if someone wants to come help for an hour, they will be welcome.
Enid Beautiful Inc. also is having a membership drive. The group has participated in many improvements to the park. Annual member fee is $25 for a couple and $15 for an individual. Fees may be sent to EBI, P.O. Box 5674, Enid, OK, 73702. Board meetings are held quarterly.
