ENID —
The lobby of Enid Senior Care was covered in school supplies as volunteers filled backpack after backpack for employees’ children Sunday afternoon.
The supplies were bought as a gift from the Dr. Francois and Micheline Nader, the owners of Blue Dolphin Health Management Inc. The company also owns and donated to The Living Center and Kenwood Manor.
Sherry Sims, human resources manager for Enid Senior Care, along with Elaine Johns, regional marketing and Community relations director for Blue Dolphin, and Johns’ grandson Corbin, all shopped for the school supplies for the Nader’s.
“Two hours, four shopping carts full and around $1,100 later, we were finished shopping,” Sims said.
The three volunteers then loaded up their vehicles full of supplies and took them to Enid Senior Care where they were sorted and packed into backpacks. 68 children of Blue Dolphin employees will receive the school supplies.
“This is such a wonderful thing our bosses have done for their employees,” Johns said. “It’s been a real pleasure,”
The supplies will go to students ranging from pre-kindergarten to high school seniors. Inside the backpacks, students will find items ranging from binders to notebooks to colored pencils.
“We may not have gotten everything on the list, but we covered the majority of it,” Sims said.
The backpacks were assembled Sunday night and ready for employees to take home Monday. Johns said the gift was one way Blue Dolphin can show appreciation for those employees who work hard.
“In this economy, every thing helps,” Johns said. “The school list seems to grow every year,”
Johns said she challenges other businesses to do the same type of donation for their employees.
“It’s a great way to show your employees you care,” Johns said.
