ENID — Student artists will be able to participate in this year’s Smokin’ Red Dirt Barbecue with the addition of an arts festival to the event.
The arts festival, sponsored by Pioneer Cellular, will be April 16-17 at the Cherokee Strip Conference Center.
Students from sixth- through 12th-grade may enter their artworks in the show with a $2 entry fee for each piece submitted.
Prizes will be awarded to winners.
Contest participants must live within a 100-mile radius of Enid, and all entries must be delivered by April 2.
There will be two divisions: sixth- through eighth-grade and ninth- through 12th-grade. There will be 10 award winners in each division.
Artist Harold T. “H” Holden will judge the artwork and will choose one piece of work in the ninth- through 12th-grade division to receive the Harold T. Holden award.
Holden has been working as an artist for more than 35 years and his artwork can be found anywhere from the state Capitol to a U.S. postage stamp. His work can be viewed at www.hholden.com.
For entry forms visit www.reddirtbbq.com or pick up copies at Eagle Marketing, 227 W. Broadway. Area art teachers should have copies of the entry form.
For information, call (580) 548-8194.
Adult artists also may apply to host a booth and exhibit their work at the festival. For rules, fees and applications go to www.reddirtbbq.com.
