A Woodward teen was killed Monday night in a two-vehicle accident near Laverne on U.S. 270.
Jose Medrano, 17, died at the scene of head and trunk injuries, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report. The accident happened at 11:13 p.m. six miles south and 5 miles west of Laverne.
According to the report, Medrano was driving a 1997 GMC pickup west on U.S. 270 when he went left of center and collided with a Ken-worth tractor-trailer driven by Christopher Morrell-Cook-son, 36, of Hooker, which was eastbound on the highway.
At some point, according to the report Morrell-Cookson’s tractor-trailer caught fire.
Medrano was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report, but Morrell-Cookson was.
