This will be of particular interest to those of the mature generation, 70-plus years or older! My late father, Earl Spencer, originated Green Gage Sherbet while we were living up at Council Bluffs, Iowa, 1922-35. We moved to Enid in late 1935, and my sister, Betty Mae Mackie, also deceased, graduated from Enid High in 1936. My dad worked for Weibel's Dairy and originated Frozen Custard. He said it was such a rich creamy ice cream by itself. This at a time when three-decker ice cream cones were the rage with vanilla, chocolate and strawberry in them. The frozen custard certainly brought Earl and Puline Weibel many, many customers. As Paul Harvey would say "now you know the real story."
Why green gage sherbet up there and not here? I've never heard that green gage plums were raised here!!
