There is an old saying the "Every dark cloud has a silver lining." Well, the closing of the GM plant in Oklahoma City is the Great Opportunity. The plant should be bought from GM for one dollar and converted into a plant that builds Hybrid Adapters in five sizes to fit every vehicle with proper adapter plates. Is Oklahoma ready to lead the country or be a follower? The writer tried to buy a hybrid car, but was not shown a reasonably size car, only monster SUV hybrids. If he wanted a standard sized car, his name would be put on a list. This is the oldest gimmick in the book. It's done so they could jack up the price or steer the customer to a more expensive vehicle.
There are four advantages to the adapter packages:
1. A large reduction in the cost of fuel for the car owner.
2. It will extend the lives of good, but aging vehicles, that the owners cannot afford to replace.
3. Employment. It will not only keep the 2500 individuals employed, but increase the number of employees on the payroll.
4. It will show the rest of the states and the world that Oklahomans are innovative and inventive individuals, not plowboys.
