The Enid Majors and Hattiesburg, Miss., will resume their suspended game at the Mid-South Regional at 11 a.m. Tuesday at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.
The game will pick up where it left off Monday, with Enid runners on first and second in the top of the eighth inning. The teams were deadlocked 3-3 when rain suspended play at 4 p.m. Monday.
Tournament officials hoped to resume the game later Monday evening, but a thunderstorm barreled through the area and forced the extra delay. More than 70 bags of dirt were poured onto the field before it was covered with the tarp at 8 p.m.
The winner of the suspended contest will face Texarkana, Texas, for the tournament championship immediately following the previous game’s completion. The winning team catches a flight to Fargo, N.D., the site of the World Series, at 6 a.m. Wednesday. The tournament must be completed tonight.
