ENID —
Although he has been on the job only 12 months, Cody Lack is making his mark as new head professional at Meadowlake Golf Course.
Under Lack, the course, clubhouse and driving range have undergone numerous improvements and renovations.
“The main focus is to provide the best golf course for the guests out here,’’ he said. “We want to get Meadowlake back to where it should be. We have great support from the city manager. We have the same objectives and goals, and that’s to increase service and standards and to show that we are one of the premiere municipal courses in the area.’’
Lack is quick to give credit to course superintendent Brady Schultz, who has worked side-by-side with Lack in renovation efforts.
“The greens are as good as anybody’s around,’’ said Lack.
A major project has been remodeling bridges over the creeks running through the back nine.
Water stations have been remodeled on Nos. 4, 6, 11 and 13, and ball washers now are located on every tee box. Many of the irrigation sprinkler heads have been or will be replaced by the spring.
New bunkers will be installed on the No. 4 and No. 18 fairways.
The practice range now features a new ball distribution machine, a new ball collector, new range balls and a new ball washer.
In the clubhouse, wall-to-wall carpet has been installed, and the snack bar has been renovated.
A satellite dish has been installed to provide high-definition television coverage of golf on a 52-inch, flat-screen television in the lounge.
The golf shop now is fully stocked with all kinds of equipment and apparel, including Nike, Srixon, Titleist, Callaway, Pinnacle, Foot-joy, Cobra, Cleveland, Taylor Made and Ping. The pro shop also has GPS units for sale.
“We are fully stocked for men and women with everything you need,’’ said Lack.
The cart fleet has been improved as well. Thirty of 50 carts have new batteries and all have been detailed.
Lack said the golf course launched a Web site — meadow lakecourse.com — last fall that details information about the course, including data about tournaments, rates, memberships, lessons and tee times.
“Communication is the key,’’ said Lack.
