Local artist LaVern Scott attended Red River International Art Show May 1 in Vernon, Texas, where she took third place in a three-state show featuring 60 artists. She won with a floral painting in a western show.
She also attended the Arkansas City, Kan., show, where she won Best of Show on Main Street with her magnolia painting. Her painting then was purchased to hang in Arkansas City’s new museum.
Scott demonstrates Oklahoma dirt painting in all her shows.
She currently teaches dirt painting classes 10 a.m. to noon each Tuesday at The Art Gallery in Oakwood Mall.
