United Way of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma received a $14,311 boost in its fundraising campaign with the citywide chili cook-off.
Employer contributions are coming in, said United Way Executive Director Sean Byrne, but the vast majority still are out.
“Everything coming in has been at or exceeding last year,” he said, adding he does not expect that to continue with all contributors based on the tougher economic situation.
“Enid always comes through, though,” he said.
Anyone wishing to contribute can do so at the United Way office — 321 W. Cherokee — or at its Web site. The campaign ends Nov. 14.
