Trail Tales is Saturday



Chisholm Trail Coalition will present “Trail Tales,” a re-enactment tour of historical downtown Enid, at 10 a.m. Saturday. Cost is $6 for adults and $2 for children. Reservations may be made at 242-2233.







Waukomis Cub Scouts to host yard sale



Waukomis Cub Scouts, with the support of Waukomis Masonic Lodge 161, will hold a yard sale 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at the U.S. 81 Waukomis G&W; Storage. Sale proceeds will benefit Cub Scout Day Camp at Roman Nose.







Parenting class set for Monday



Northwest Family Services Inc. staff member Amber Maier will be teaching their “Parenting Through Separation and Divorce” class.

The class is 6 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Civics Room at Alfalfa County Courthouse, 300 S. Grand, Cherokee. To enroll, call Maier at (580) 327-2900. Participants must pre-enroll; the class will be canceled if there is inadequate pre-enrollment.

The class was designed at the request of the courts to help divorcing couples understand the problems their children may experience during and after a divorce or separation. It will fulfill the court order for all divorcing parents. Parents will learn skills to parent cooperatively, even though they are divorced.

In the class, parents will learn how to effectively communicate with their children and with their former spouse. They will practice reflective listening skills and will study various active communication techniques and non-verbal communications. They also will practice workable negotiation styles for dealing with conflict and rules for effective expressions.







Republican women to meet June 12



Garfield County Republican Women will meet at 11:30 a.m. June 12 at YWCA. Lunch will follow the meeting. Speaker will be Mike Fields, Garfield County assistant district attorney.







Quilting tour slated for Aug. 29



A Quilting Express bus trip from Woodward is being planned for Aug. 29.

A luxury bus will leave Woodward at 7:45 a.m. and travel to Sooner Quilts in Guthrie, Quilting Post in Stillwater and Prairie Quilt in Hennessey.

Cost of the trip is $59 and includes lunch and a goodie bag. To reserve space on the trip, call (405) 853-6801.
