2012 McNeal and Cox family reunion held
The descendants of John Nathaniel and Harriett Ellen (Shellhammer) McNeal-and Jasper Newton and Julia Ann (Wooten) Cox family reunion was held Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, in Perry, Okla., with a total of 20 family members and friends attending.
Sharon Milburn provided many pictures and articles pertaining to family genealogy. Several family members, including Keith Russell of Oregon, Steve Johnson of New Jersey, Ronnie and Linda Jones of Missouri, and Bill Norris of Washington, sent pictures to share even though they couldn’t attend.
It was voted on and agreed that the families would skip a year for the next reunion, which will take place in 2014 at a lake or park.
Several family members were honored as follows:
Most mature woman was Ruby Belle (McNeal) Gleason, 93, of Perry. Ruby is the daughter of Hugh Ellsworth and Rosie (Anson) McNeal, and granddaughter of John Nathaniel and Harriett Ellen McNeal.
Most mature man was Leroy Goad of Canute. Leroy is the husband of Rose Marie (Tolsdorf) Goad, who was the daughter of Gus and Goldie (McNeal) Tolsdorf, and is granddaughter of Hugh and Rosie McNeal.
Traveling the farthest was Kay (Goad) Stout of Canute. She is the daughter of Leroy and Rose Marie Goad and granddaughter of Gus and Goldie (McNeal) Tolsdorf.
Newly married were K.J. and Tiffany Anderson. Tiffany is the granddaughter of Jan (McNeal) Dickerson. Jan is the daughter of Jasper Hugh McNeal, granddaughter of Hugh and Rosie McNeal, and great-granddaughter of John Nathaniel and Harriett Ellen McNeal.
Married the longest were Larry and Maudie (McNeal) Moff. Larry and Maudie have been married 65 years. Maudie is the daughter of William Henry and Addie (Cox) McNeal and granddaughter of John Nathaniel and Harriett Ellen McNeal.
Special anniversary went to Buddy and Charlotte McNeal of Fairmont. They have been married for 40 years. Buddy is the son of Bud Ellsworth and Ida McNeal, grandson of Hugh and Rosie McNeal, and great-grandson of John Nathaniel and Harriett Ellen McNeal.
Ruby Belle (McNeal) Gleason had the most family members present with a total of 12, including many nieces and nephews.
Jo Ann Edwards attended for the first time. Jo Ann was Rose Marie (Tolsdorf) Goad’s cousin.
A special gift was awarded to Sharon Milburn for all her many hours of work on our genealogy information she has gathered, as well as for her valuable input into the design of the gravestones for John Nathaniel and Harriett Ellen McNeal, who are buried at Pioneer Cemetery in Garfield county.
