Thirty-five descendants of the Herrmann and Sophie Meier attended the 2009 Meier family reunion and potluck dinner held Aug. 9 at Breckinridge Community Center.
Attending from out-of-state were Roger and Lois Askins and Roger and Trish Meier, all of Winfield, Kan., and Richard Meier and Orvil and Clara Reed, all of Penokee, Kan.
Reim-Gray-Zaloudek-Schuelein
Forty-five descendants attended the 36th annual Reim-Gray-Zaloudek-Schuelein family reunion held Aug. 9 at Government Springs Park. A potluck lunch was held at noon with 120 present.
The prize for traveling the farthest went to Patsy Roscoe of Clarkston, Wash.; 10-month-old Kaitlyn Koehn was the youngest present; Abby Reim won the drawing for the door prize; gifts for 90 years and older went to Lydia Sparkes, 97, Erna Brunken, 95, Alberta Wilcox, 93, Florence Listvan, 90, Refa Gray, 90, and Marcella Trekell, 90. Homemade pillows by Lydia were given to the ladies.
Those traveling from out-of-state were Vicki, Pamela and Anna Wellons and Dorothy Wilcox from Kansas; Carrie May Greenzweigt, Colorado; Donna Glee Reim, Massachusetts; Florence Listvan, Long Beach, Calif.; Marilyn Listvan, Edina, Minnesota; Karen Lewis, Fresno, Calif.; Brenda Lewis, Carmichael, Calif.; and Samanth Roscoe, Panama City, Fla.
Members of the preparation committee are Rod, Lynn, Diana, Myjha and Dan Reim, Ginger Merrill, Sandy Williams and Carolyn Bearden.
Bartel
More than 90 descendants of the Peter V. and Bienna Bartel family attended the 13th family reunion held July 31-Aug. 2 at Fairview Mennonite Brethren Church.
Peter Bartel came to Oklahoma Territory when he was 6 with his father, who was a Mennonite Brethren minister. The first reunion was held in 1960 and meets every four years. States represented were Oklahoma, Texas, California, North Carolina, Kansas and Minnesota.
Cutter
Thirty-six descendants attended the Cutter reunion held Aug. 9 at the Everett Cutter farm, southwest of Covington.
The next reunion will be held Aug. 8, 2010, at the Roy Messenger farm in Hillsdale.
