UMW to host ice cream
social in Pond Creek
Pond Creek United Methodist Women will hold their annual all-you-can-eat ice cream social 5-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church’s family center.
A freewill offering will be taken for mission work.
Duck Derby on tap Friday
The fifth annual Duck Derby will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday at Splash Zone.
Pioneer-Pleasant Vale Academic Foundation is calling all racers to adopt a duck for the derby. Winners will receive $100 in cash as well as other donated prizes.
Cost is $5 a duck; three ducks for $10; or seven ducks for $20. Numbered ducks will be provided.
To adopt a duck, call (580) 249-5760 or go online to the Web site, ppvaf.org, to sign up.
The event also will serve as a back-to-school party for students.
There will be swimming, hamburgers, hot dogs and refreshments with proceeds benefitting grants for teachers.
