OSBI investigates Kingfisher County jail inmate's death

KINGFISHER, Okla. — Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is looking into the death of an inmate at Kingfisher County Jail.

William David Mallory, 38, was found dead inside his cell at about 8 p.m. Monday, according to an OSBI news release. OSBI termed the death a “possible homicide.”

Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Office requested OSBI investigate the incident.

The medical examiner’s office will determine Mallory’s cause and manner of death, accordign to the news release. OSBI agents have collected evidence from the scene and have interviewed inmates who were in the area at the time of Mallory’s death.

Mallory was booked into the Kingfisher County Jail on Sept. 24 on a misdemeanor charge of larceny from a retailer. He was housed in a cell that was open during the day to a pod, or a common area, for inmates.

Mallory appeared in court on the charge Sept. 26 and pleaded not guilty.
