Updated: Rain chances low today, high tonight

ENID, Okla. — National Weather Service is forecasting a chance of rain for the Enid area beginning Wednesday, mainly after noon, and extending through Thursday.

While Enid and the area is forecasted to receive the least amount of rainfall in the state, the chances are pretty high there will be moisture falling from the sky sometime in the next 48 hours, according to the National Weather Service.

Weather models have been revised from Tuesday, when NWS was predicting all of the northwest part of the state would only see less than an inch of rain. Reports now have lifted the chances of Enid and areas immediately south seeing up to an inch.

One to 2 inches of rain is expected in southwest Oklahoma, parts of which are seeing exceptional drought, like all of northwest Oklahoma.

Rainfall should start in the southern part of the state and move north, according to NWS. Tonight's forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies, with westerly winds switching to the north at 8-10 mph. The low will dip near freezing, according to meteorologists.

Wednesday's chance of rain tops out at only a 20 percent in the afternoon, with a high near 48 and north wind at 9-17 mph, gusting as high as 24 mph. The low temperature Wednesday night should bottom out at 40 with a 90 percent chance of rain for the area. A 60 percent chance of rain continues into Thursday morning. Winds will shift to east-southeast and be brisk at 11-15 mph. The high Thursday is forecast by NWS at 51. There is no forecast of rain for Thursday night, which should stay cloudy with a southerly wind at 11-14 mph and a low of 39.

Friday will be clear, with a high of 62, according to NWS.
