Enid Lights Up the Plains

5-8 p.m. today

Downtown Enid



Downtown Enid will be full of lights, Christmas music and holiday cheer this evening as the holidays officially kick off with Enid Lights Up the Plains

The event features light, live entertainment, visits with Santa Claus, carriage rides and a fireworks finale. U.S. Cellular is the title sponsor of the event.

Residents are encouraged to come out early and enjoy the activities, shop in downtown stores and enjoy a festive atmosphere.

Christmas Extravaganza

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday

Cherokee Strip Conference Center



Christmas Extravaganza (formerly Santa’s Showcase) annual arts and crafts show is coming to Enid this weekend.

The show features crafters of all varieties, just in time for the holidays.

Vendors will include wood crafts, quilts, needle crafts, collectibles and many others.

‘Christmas in Paris’

Enid Symphony Orchestra

Today and Sunday



Enid Symphony Orchestra will present ‘Christmas in Paris’ featuring Enid soprano Leona Mitchell in performances tonight at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. There is no Saturday performance.

The program will include classic Christmas carols and music, including the ESO children’s choir.

Douglas Newell is the Enid Symphony Orchestra music director.

Families can spend part of Thanksgiving weekend enjoying the hidden treasures of fascinating train displays includes eight cabooses, a baggage car, motor cars, a three-dome tank cars and others.

More than 1,000 pieces of railroad dining car china and an array of railroad memorabilia are on display.

Railroad Museum of Oklahoma is open 1-4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and 2-5 p.m. Sunday. Call 233-3051.

Leonardo’s Discovery Warehouse

Thanksgiving weekend special events

200 E. Maple



Leonardo’s Discovery Warehouse will feature special activities today Saturday and Sunday for children of all ages.

“We always enjoy celebrating holidays with children,” commented Julie Baird, Leonardo's executive director. “Currently, we are featuring the “Eureka” exhibit as part of the Oklahoma Museum Network funded by the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation. It includes 13 stations of hands-on science inquiry including a bed of nails, video light microscope, turntable, and much more.”

On Friday, guests may make holiday ornaments and cards. Free Segway rides will also be available starting Friday with paid admission.

Leonardo's Toy Shoppe is also open with an expanded assortment of educational toys for children of all ages. There is no cost to visit the gift shop and Leonardo's also offers free gift wrapping with purchase.
