Downtown Oklahoma City will have a lot to offer this year for visitors wishing to celebrate the holidays with special events and activities.
During Downtown in December, visitors will be able to experience the thrill of outdoor ice skating, exhilarating snow tubing rides down a manmade slope, water taxi excursions along the winding Bricktown Canal, free museum Sundays, free river cruises and a magically-lit botanical garden and historic avenue.
The grand lawn of the Civic Center Music Hall transforms into an icy entertainment zone starting Nov. 27. The ice rink will be open every day through Jan. 3 for its seventh season. The attraction is sponsored by Devon Energy.
Kids of all ages wanting to go extreme this winter can snow tube down the southwest’s largest manmade snow tubing slope. Chesapeake Energy Snow Tubing at the Brick will be open every weekend starting Thanksgiving through Dec. 13 and then daily Dec. 18-Jan. 3.
A popular attraction during the holidays is the Automobile Alley Lights on Broadway with more than 130,000 colorful LED lights draped along the historic buildings of the area. Also, OG&E; sponsors lights in the Myriad Botanical Gardens during the holidays.
