Christmas coming to Seiling early

Christmas arrives in Seiling on Thursday with a number of activities, including craft shows, tasting booths, Santa’s arrival and a home tour.

The day begins at 8 a.m. with a Community Educ-ation Christmas Craft Show on Main Street in city hall. The show will feature Christmas crafts, baked goods and candies for sale, as well as wholesale items.

The tasting booth at the craft show will feature dishes from area cooks. Tasters pay $1 to taste each dish, receive a cookbook of recipes and vote for their favorites.

At 5 p.m., Santa arrives at the gazebo on Main Street. He will visit with area youths until 6 p.m. Children will receive goodie bags from Santa and also have their pictures taken.

Children who visit Santa will have their names entered in a drawing for a giant stocking sponsored by the chamber of commerce.

Also at 5 p.m. in Gazebo Park is the Mr. and Miss Snowbaby contest, for children 0-24 months. Children will be judged on their Christmas finery. There will also be a Mr. and Miss Snowflake contest for children ages 2 to 5.

Students from Seiling junior and senior high schools will provide entertainment at the gazebo.

At 5:30 p.m., a bus will leave to conduct tours of the Community Christmas Decoration Open House competition. Those taking the tour will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite decorations.

The lighted Christmas parade begins at 6:30 p.m. with the theme “The True Meaning of Christmas.”
