Canterbury Christmas to feature Dillingham

Canterbury Choral Society kicks off the Christmas season with its Canterbury Christmas concert, featuring internationally recognized Enid native Kyle Dillingham, Dec. 6 at Civic Center, 201 N. Walker, Oklahoma City.

Dillingham picked up the violin when he was 9. Eight years later, he was performing on the stage of Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry. He has often been referred to as “Oklahoma’s Ambassador” for many reasons. He has helped develop over 30 relationships between universities in Oklahoma and overseas. Recently, he received the Special Recognition Award at the 2009 Oklahoma Governor’s Arts Awards Banquet.

A few notables, among many, during his career include being the featured performer for the king of Malaysia. He received flowers from the princess of Thailand for his stellar performance in “Phra Lor” in 2009. He performed for Singapore’s National Day Celebration. He also was in a televised performance at Beijing Music Conservatory, which was broadcast across China.

Canterbury Christmas is a much-loved annual tradition, and in addition to Dillingham, will feature Oklahoma City University organ professor Elizabeth Harrison, the Chancel Bell Choir from First Presbyterian Church in Edmond, the elite Blackwelder Brass Chamber Music Ensemble, Canterbury Choral Society Adult Chorus, Canterbury Youth Choruses and Young Men’s Chorus.

Canterbury Choral Society will hold its second annual Gingerbread House competition, where guests and patrons can bid for houses in silent auction, participate in a sing-a-long of holiday favorites and attend a reception following the concert.
