An appearance by former President George W. Bush will highlight “Let Freedom Ring 2009,” a Fourth of July weekend celebration in Woodward.
Activities are on tap for July 3 and 4 at Crystal Beach Park and Stadium. Several rock, country and western and contemporary bands will play throughout the two-day event.
Crystal Beach Park will open at 9 a.m. July 3 with food vendors and a kids’ play area. The band shell will be the place for music groups to perform, beginning at 10 a.m.
Evening entertainment July 3 includes special guest artists Bo Phillips, Mike McClure, Asleep at the Wheel, Tanya Tucker and Stoney LaRue.
On July 4, the 5K Firecracker Run will kick off the activities at 7:30 a.m. at Crystal Beach Park. A community pancake breakfast will start at 8 at the pool, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony set at the new water park at 9:30.
Vendors’ booths and entertainment will be available all day.
Gates open at Crystal Park Stadium at 4 p.m., with events starting at 5. Bush will speak and will be followed by music provided until 10:30 by Sawyer Brown.
Fireworks will be set off at 11.
After-hours dancing and music will take place at the fair barn.
