Fourth is set for July 5 in Carmen

Carmen Fire Department will celebrate Independence Day July 5 with its biggest fireworks show ever at Carmen City Park.

“The celebration will be bigger and better than ever, and we are planning a special surprise during the fireworks,” said Fire Chief Bud Jackson.

Swimming will be scheduled at Carmen Pool in the afternoon.

Northwest Oklahoma Blood Institute’s bloodmobile will be on hand for a blood drive beginning at 4:30 in the park. Donors will receive free T-shirts and tickets to the Oklahoma City Zoo.

At 5:30 p.m., the annual barbecue will begin in the new park pavilion. Donations will help fund the fireworks display.

The Chamber of Commerce is planning a talent show. For information, call Christina Moore, at the Nifty Fifty, 987-2212.

Games will be available for the children, and at p.m. Whiskey Moon, a band from Helena, will provide music. A street dance will follow the fireworks.

Fireworks will begin at dusk.
