Don’t be scared of folk rock bands coming to town

Tobi Vail is coming to town and that’s a big deal, says concert promoter Tyler Roberts.

The ex-drummer for the ‘90s band Bikini Kill, Vail is more notoriously known for dating Nirvana’s lead singer Kurt Cobain (before Courtney came on the scene).

Vail now leads Spider and the Webs, a band that has signed with the indie label Kill Rock Stars out of Olympia, Wash.

“The band is bigger than other bands I’ve booked before,” Roberts says. “It’s sort of a big deal.”

Fellow label mates The Old Haunts also will be making an appearance with Spider and the Webs on March 20 at American Legion Hall. Both bands are making a stop in Enid on their way back from the SxSW Music Conference in Austin, Texas.

Locals joining them on stage are Riley Jantzen, Jake Morisy, Ali Harter and The Scarlet Letter.

“I tried to get as many local acts on board as possible,” Roberts says. “I think people will enjoy it. If people come out, they won’t be disappointed.”

Admission to the mellow folk rock concert is $5. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the show starts at 6:30.
