event

Winter Chautauqua

7 p.m. Saturday

NWOSU-Enid, Randolph and 30th

The legendary Ulysses S. Grant will be brought to life by former Enid teacher Tom King Saturday night during a Winter Chautauqua presentation at Northwestern Oklahoma State University-Enid.

The event will be in the commons area, and the performance is free and open to the public. A student performance will be presented prior to the King performance.

King, a director of secondary education at Doane College in Nebraska, regularly portrays Grant as well as Col. Matt F. Locke during Chautauqua events. In order to portray a Chautauqua character, King has had to write extensively and study about his characters. During the performance, he also is able to answer audience questions in character.

Winter Chautauqua will include a workshop at 10:30 a.m. at NWOSU-Enid as well as a brown bag lunch. Both are free of charge.

Winter Chautauqua is sponsored by Enid Chautauqua Council, Enid Arts and Oklahoma Humanities Council.
