ATV accident kills man near Drummond

DRUMMOND — A Drummond man was killed Saturday evening in an ATV accident in a pasture southeast of Drummond.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Melvin Gray, 66, of Drummond, was pronounced dead at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center, after being transported by Life EMS from 12921 S. Michael Road.

OHP said Gray’s Arctic Cat ATV was southbound at about 6:30 p.m. in a pasture on private property when the driver, for an unknown reason, locked up the brakes and made a hard-right turn, causing the ATV to roll over on the driver.

OHP said Gray was pinned under the ATV for an unknown time, and the accident still was under investigation.

Fire-rescue units from  Waukomis and Drummond fire departments responded, along with Life and Garfield County Sheriff’s Office and two OHP troopers.

Wess said the photos are a way of preserving some occupations that don’t exist anymore. A photo is a memento that will trigger a memory, and Wess said people need something to take them away from the cares of the day. Here are a few of his photographs that hang on the wall of their photography studio.
