Published 11-18-12

ENID — Tommie Lucille “Lucy” Holmes Smith Catlin, resident of Greenbriar Nursing Home of Enid, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012. She was 94.

Lucy was born June 4, 1918, to Francis Melvin Holmes and Mineola “Minnie” McFadin Holmes in Jackson County, Oklahoma.

She later married Ivan W. Smith Sr., and they maintained and operated several businesses in Fort Worth, Texas. In 1962, she married the love of her life, Dr. R. C. Catlin, and soon became his dental assistant in Houston, Texas.

In Lucy’s younger days, she loved to go dancing, go to a good movie, paint, draw, read, cook and sew.

She is survived by her two sons, Dr. Tom Smith and Ivan Smith Jr.; one daughter, Phyllis Smith Bryan; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Hazel Little and Erie Henderson; three brothers, Lloyd Holmes, Wiley Wayne Holmes and Jack Holmes; and great-granddaughter Danielle Christine Benitez.
