Published 11-18-12

ENID — Memorial service for William “Bill” Duncan Fisher, 84, Enid, will be held privately for the family in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military graveside rights will be conducted by U.S. Army Honor Guard. Services and cremation are under direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Bill was born July 25, 1928, in Davenport, Iowa, to Ralph and Lucille Woods Fisher and passed away November 15, 2012, in Enid.

As a young man, he moved with his family to Cushing, where he attended Cushing High School, graduating in 1946. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army, in which he served as a member of the occupation army in Japan after WWII. He later returned to Cushing, where he worked as an electrician. He went on to become a store manager at Jones and Laughlin Steel Corporation.

He married Peggy Nichols October 28, 1949, in Cushing, where they made their home. They later moved to Perry, and then finally to Enid in 1961.

In 1968, he founded Fisher Production Services, which is still operated today by daughter Paula and son Bill. He retired in 1993. He and his wife moved to The Commons in 2003.

Bill was a quiet man with a heart of gold and will be greatly missed by those of us who loved him. He loved boating, fishing, watching his grandkids play ball and especially loved spending time with his family. He loved his antique cars and was a member of Antique Car Club of Enid.

He is survived by his wife Peggy; sons, Bill Fisher and wife Kelly of Enid, Danny Fisher and wife Alana of Oklahoma City; daughters, Karen and husband Cliff Jones of Ozark, Missouri, Sandy Painter and husband Jim of Enid, Paula Olmstead and husband Eddy of Enid; brother Ralph Fisher and wife Donna of Park City, Utah; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two nephews.

Memorials may be made in his name to Alzheimer’s Association, with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds. Condolences may be made to the family at Brown-Cummings.com.
