John Robert “Bob” Kirkpatrick

KREMLIN — Funeral service for John Robert “Bob” Kirkpatrick, 86, of Kremlin, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Ladusau-Evans Chapel, with Rev. Lesly Broadbent and Jim Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Bob was born May 1, 1926, to John Robert and Elizabeth Belt Kirkpatrick in Nevada, Mo., and passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Greenbrier Skilled Nursing Center.

At an early age, the family moved to Cedaredge, Colo., where he attended school until he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in July 1943. He served 2 years in the South Pacific and attained the rank of coxswain before his discharge on April 11, 1946.

On April 18, 1946, he married Margie Langston in Grand Junction, Colo. They lived in Orange, Calif., for almost a year, and on Feb. 21, 1949, they moved to Kremlin, where they still reside. They had one daughter born to this union.

He was employed by F.W. Zaloudek for 28 years and Dowell for 10 years, when he retired.

He was active in the community and school affairs. He was active in the Masonic Lodge and Shrine Club in Enid, where he was to be president the following year, when family illness forced him to withdraw his position, where he received his 50-year pens 2001. He was a member of Methodist Church in Kremlin and a charter member of Kremlin Lions Club.

After his retirement, he and Margie were what many referred to as “snow birds,” having spent six months each winter in the Corpus Christi, Texas, area.

Survivors include his wife, Margie of the home; his daughter, Janet and her husband Dave Bittle, their three children Kimberly and husband Rafael Larin, their two sons Myles and Colby of Glendale, Calif., Dusty and his wife Tracy Bittle, their two children, Karlee and Kass of Kremlin, Shannan Bittle and Cathy O’Dell of Wagoner, Okla.; a brother, Douglas Kirkpatrick and his three sons, Tim and his wife Dana and family, Bobbie and Sean; brother, Howard Kirkpatrick and wife Jackie of Palo Cedro, Calif., and their daughters Kelly, Pam, Valerie and Jennifer and their families all of California; a sister, Betty Jo Tennant and her two daughters Gaylene Owens and her family Alex and Ashley of Enid, LeAnne Cox and her husband Phillip of Little Rock, Ark.; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Darrell.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Cripple Children Fund or Kremlin Methodist Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.

    Douglas Lloyd Champlin of Gardnerville, Nev., died peacefully on Monday, May 20, 2013, in Scottsdale, Ariz., after a brief illness of cancer. He was born Jan. 9, 1941, in Enid, Okla., to Joe Noble and Jane Edwards Champlin.
    He is survived by his wife, Laurel Raether Champlin; daughter, Christa Hampton and husband Cobey of Cave Creek, Ariz.; daughter, Claire Woolsey and husband Cole of Reno, Nev., and Cassidy Champlin of the home; six grandchildren; sister, Joanna M. Champlin and husband Shawnee Brittan of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and many nieces, nephews and beloved friends all over the world.
    Doug was preceded in death by his parents and beloved brother, H.H. “Bud” Champlin, formerly of Enid, Okla.
    As a young boy growing up in Enid, Okla., Doug developed a love for history and the military. He became a collector at a young age of toy soldiers, guns, and just about anything he could get his hands on related to history.

    The graveside service for Harold H. Jantzen, 80-year-old Newton, Kan., resident will be 3 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2013, in the West New Hopedale cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. The Rev James Suderman will officiate.
    Harold was born Oct. 31, 1932, in Bessie, Okla., to Henry K. and Frieda (Froese) Jantzen and died Sunday, May 19, 2013 in Newton, Kan. After graduating high school he attended Grace Bible Intitute and the Bethel College. He then attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where he obtained his master’s degree. He then earned a specialist’s degree from Emporia College.

    Memorial service for James M. Dillard, 61, Pilot Oak, Ky., will be 3 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Byrn Funeral Home Chapel, Mayfield, Ky. Abe Leonard will officiate.
    James was born Sept. 5, 1951, in Fairview and died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at home.
      Surviving are two daughters, Margo (Chris) Kesinger of Tonkawa, and Francine (Sheldon) Wedel of Pilot Oak; one sister, Judy Dillard of Wichita, Kan.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
