Carl Daniel Boese

Published 12-14-12

ENID — The funeral for Carl Daniel Boese will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, in the chapel at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Pastor Richard Fleig will officiate. Viewing will be from 6 until 7 p.m. this evening at Ladusau-Evans funeral home.

Carl was born to Peter Jacob and Eva (Schartner) Boese near Taloga, Okla., on Sept. 21, 1920. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday evening, Dec. 9, 2012.

Carl grew up on farms in the Taloga-Seiling area. He joined the Army in October 1942. He was honorably discharged in 1943 as a Disabled American Veteran.

Upon returning to the Fairview area, he married Gearldean Boese, the love of his life. They were married for 67 years. They eventually located to Oklahoma City, where they started raising their family of three children. He worked for Humpty Dumpty grocery stores as a meat manager.

In 1963, Carl relocated his family to Southern California, where he continued his career in the grocery industry. He retired in 1988 and moved to the Lake Arrowhead area of the San Bernardino Mountains. In 1993, Carl and Jerry relocated to Enid to be near his sister, Thelma Jensen.

Carl loved to travel, play his harmonica and entertain family and friends with jokes, riddles, and poems that he had found or wrote himself. He loved all children, but nothing lit up his eyes like his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his daughter, Debbie Nixon; his brothers, Tillman, Levi, and Paul; and his sisters, Elizabeth and Lillian Boese, and Thelma Jensen.

Carl is survived by his son, DeWayne, and wife, Ann Marie, of Enid, daughter Robbie and husband, Al Koos, of Grand Junction, Colo., grandchildren, Cori, Dan, Scott, Anna, Jon, Patrick, Brandi, Breanna, Ryan, Jaden, and Cassidy; 13 great-grandchildren; 11 nephews; two nieces; and his best friend, Richard Fleig.

Our father was a kind and gentle soul who always spoke well of others and touched everyone he met with his big smile and a genuine interest in who they were.

But first and foremost, he was a man of God. If you knew our father, you knew a man who represented Christ in a most wonderful way: humility and selflessness. Words cannot express how much this man of God will be missed.
