Virginia was born on July 13, 1931, in Medford, the daughter of Baden and Vivian Fields Yerian and passed from this life on Nov. 20, 2012, at Wakita Community Health Center.
While her children were young, Virginia stayed home to take care of them. She sewed Brenda’s clothes, raised a large vegetable garden and cooked extensively.
When her children went to school, Virginia took a job as a cook in the kitchen at the Community Health Center. She worked there many years until she retired.
Virginia had a big heart for cats. She loved them so much that she never turned away a hungry stray.
She also loved books and the History Channel. More than anything, Virginia loved her kids and her son-in-law and cherished her time with them. In her final days, Virginia came to love our Lord Jesus as her savior, and was at peace knowing her place in heaven was secure.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Koehler; sister, Jane Krachey; brother, Richard Yerian; son, Mike Koehler.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Brenda Ball and husband, Jeff of Dawson, Illinois; stepdaughters, Sheila Green of Enid, Debbie Perry and husband, Bob of Waukomis, Janet Anderson of Enid; stepson, Tommy Koehler, Jr. and wife, Rebecca of Enid; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Community Health Center or U.S. Humane Society through the funeral home.
