ENID, Okla. — Funeral for Don Kelley, 80-year-old Enid resident, will be 3 p.m. today, Feb. 19, 2013, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Kenneth Wade and Scott Whittenburg will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Enid Fire Department conducting the honors.

Don was born May 30, 1932, in Broken Arrow, Okla., to Lee and Zola (Wheeler) Kelley and died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at his home.

He attended Broken Arrow schools and enlisted in the Air Force at age 16. He completed high school while in the Air Force. When his age was found out by the Air Force, he was discharged and then drafted into the United States Army.

On Nov. 14, 1954, he married Ruby Diel at the Lutheran church in Breckinridge, Okla.

The couple made their home in Enid, where Don was a firefighter for almost 23 years. He then started Kelley Electric in 1969, which he owned and operated until 2001.

He was a longtime member of the Lutheran church.

He was a member of the City Council, the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission, and the American Legion.

He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby, and daughter Denise Kelley, both of the home; two sisters, Ann Simpson and husband E.L. of Tulsa, Okla., and Sue Ingold of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mike; and brother, Ed.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the charity of the donor’s choosing.
