Enid, OK — The funeral for Eileen Alberta Hickman Coulson, 81, of Vici, will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at Church of the Firstborn, Vici. Burial will be in Riley Cemetery, Seiling. Arrangements are by Shaw Funeral Home, Vici.
She was born Nov. 19, 1928, near Lenora to Frederick Henry and Jennie May Sheets Hickman and died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at Vici Nursing Home.
She attended White Eagle grade school and Valley Center country schools on the JV Flats near Lenora. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1946.
She taught school one year at Valley Center before she married Hilbert Coulson Nov. 6, 1947, in Canadian, Texas. They made their first home on the Aldridge Homestead, southwest of Cestos, before moving to the Fred Hickman place. She lived her entire life in Dewey and Woodward counties. They also lived on the Remmele place north of Vici from 1950 to 1958, farming and milking cows. In October 1958, they moved east of Vici, which was their current residence. She patched walls and wallpapered many homes in the area. They operated the Champlin Service Station in Vici from 1960 to 1980.
During her lifetime she completed 80 full-sized quilts, with several of them winning awards and ribbons at the Dewey County Fair. She moved to Vici Nursing Home in 2003.
Surviving are her husband, Hilbert, of the home; children, Francis Coulson of Wellston, Jerry Coulson of Chester and Deena Louthan of Seiling; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
