Enid, OK — A memorial service for Margery Lee Clyne, 95, of Alva, will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva.

She was born June 29, 1914, in Alva to Pearl E. Huff and Robin W. Kirkbride and died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at Alva Share Medical Center.

She attended Alva schools, graduating from Alva High School in 1931 and from Northwestern State College in 1935.

She married Lowell Newton Clyne Oct. 24, 1935, in Alva. She taught school in Burlington while he attended medical school. They moved to Chicago and later Canada before settling in McLeans-boro, Ill. He died in 1943.

Following his death she returned to Alva, where she taught English. She later became the librarian, retiring in 1976. She set up the library in a closet in the old school and organized the library at the new high school.

She was a lifelong member of Alva First Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the choir and Women’s Circle. She was a member of the Research Club, Sigma Kappa sorority and Retired Teachers Association.

Surviving are two daughters, Robin and Marilyn Clyne of the home; one sister, Mary Doris Powers of Carlsbad, Calif.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister.
