Enid, OK — The memorial service for Frances Marie Cummings, 93, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at Shaw Memorial Chapel, Vici.

She was born Aug. 31, 1916, in Decatur, Texas, to Estill M. and Lela Ann Fitzgerald Cummings and died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009.

She was raised and educated in Camargo. She attended Chickasha Women’s College, later tranferring to the University of Oklahoma, where she attained a bachelor of arts degree. She taught school in Purcell and Bacone College.

During World War II, she worked in a lab in Oakland, Calif. She then graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a doctorate degree in chemistry.

Following graduation, she worked for Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co., in Corpus Christi, Texas, until her retirement. She was a member of Women’s Democratic League and volunteered at the C.C. Art Museum.

Surviving are one sister, Mary J. Miller of Camargo.

She was preceded in death by one brother.
