The funeral for Edith Lois Burleson, 65, of Cherokee, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at First Baptist Church, Cherokee. The Rev. Tom Cooksey will officiate. Burial will be in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Cherokee. Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
She was born Feb. 23, 1944, in Oklahoma City to Jacob and Edna Louthan Weigand and died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at her home.
She graduated from Lambert High School and attended two years at Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
She married Warren Burleson Feb. 8, 1963, in Cherokee. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she played piano, taught preschool, Bible school and Sunday school. She was a homemaker and member of Farmerettes.
Surviving are her husband, Warren; one daughter, Gina Pekrul of Goltry; one son, Derick Burleson of Fairbanks, Alaska; one brother, Alvin Weigand; and three grandchilden.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice Circle of Love or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, lung division.
