The funeral for Gail Paxton Curtis, 81, of Woodward, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at Fifth Street Church of Christ. James Rucker and James Bailey will officiate. Graveside service is 3:30 p.m. in Rock Cemetery, Granite. Arrangements are by Billings Funeral Home, Woodward.

He was born June 16, 1928, in Granite to William Haskell and Alma Pearl Paxton Curtis and died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, in Woodward.

He was a 1948 graduate of Reed High School.

He married LaDena Ruth Burcham Aug. 7, 1948, in Mangum. They moved to Ulysses, Kan., in 1948, where he began farming. He later went to work for Columbian Carbon Co. In 1955, he started a 31-year career with Amoco Production Co. They transferred to Woodward in 1972. He was a member of Fifth Street Church of Christ, Woodward.

Surviving are his wife, LaDena, of the home; one son, Dean Curtis of Greeley, Colo.; one daughter, Mary Ann Wright of Ulysses; one sister, Peggy Bass of Citrus Heights, Calif.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister.
