Enid, OK — The funeral for Mary Jean “Pete” Slack Springer, 78, of Carmen, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at Carmen Christian Church. The Revs. Kirk Board and Susan Grove will officiate. Burial will be in Springer Family Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wentworth Mortuary, LLC, Carmen.
She was born Jan. 30, 1931, in Carmen to William David and Beaulah Bee Scott Slack and died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, in Enid.
She was a lifelong resident of Carmen, graduating from Carmen High School in 1949.
She married Jack Dean Springer Oct. 16, 1949. They made their home on a farm east of Carmen.
She was a homemaker and worked as a secretary at Helena School for Boys and retired from the Department of Corrections at James Crabtree Correctional Center in 1984. He died in 1999. She moved to Greenbrier Village in Enid in 2008.
Surviving are her children, Vicky Olson of Bixby, Kirk Springer of Lawton, Kelly Springer of Okeene and Janet Sheik of Carmen; one sister, Betty Fidler of Wichita, Kan.; one brother, John D. Slack of Arlington, Texas; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Carmen Christian Church, Carmen First Responders or St. Jude’s Children’s Hosp-ital.
