Enid, OK — The funeral for Violet M. Whenry, 80, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Susan Southall will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

She was born June 6, 1929, in Horton, Kan., to Edward and Josephine Hamermeis-ter Darling and died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at The Commons.

She graduated from El Reno High School in 1947.

She married Merle Whenry after graduation. He served in the Air Force and they were stationed at various cities in U.S. and abroad. After his retirement, they moved to Stillwater and later to Enid. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, and Eastern Star. She was a volunteer at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

Surviving are her husband, Merle, of the home; one son, Tim Whenry of Broken Arrow; one sister, Dolores Brown of El Reno; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to First United Methodist Church choir fund.
