Enid, OK — The funeral for Charles Torry Lipps, 85, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at Central Christian Church. The Rev. John McLemore will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
He was born Nov. 1, 1924, in Okeene to Herbert and Esther Rusch Lipps and died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009.
He grew up on the family farm north of Okeene and graduated from Okeene High school in 1942. He attended Phillips Univer-sity be-fore en-tering the Navy. He served in Okinawa during World War II. Follow-ing the war he attended Wichita State University. He later worked for his father in Enid.
He married Elva Rose Harper June 1, 1947. He owned and operated Lip-So Awning Co. and Papa Torry’s until his death.
Surviving are four children, Carmen Cherie Parnian of Tulsa, Conti Lennette Roberts, Enid, Carita Coette Crain of Troy, Mo., and Charles James Lipps of Fairview; his companion, Nina Ruth Brown Waack; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
